»AAPA AWARDS AAPA TO HONOR 26 PORTS FOR COMMUNICATIONS AT 102ND CONVENTION A n independent panel of 36 Public Relations Society of America judges from the Washington, D.C., area cumulatively devoted 144 hours to the scoring of communications competition entries in 15 different classifications, ranging from advertisements to websites. Based on the number of points awarded each entry, the judges selected 28 submissions from 14 ports to receive an Award of Excellence, 52 submissions from 18 ports for an Award of Distinction, and 19 submissions from seven ports for an Award of Merit. To acknowledge the most outstanding performer in the Communications Awards program, AAPA annually bestows its Dan Maynard Communications Award for Overall Excellence on the port that earns the most award points overall. The 2013 Dan Maynard Communications Award recipient is, for the first time, Georgia Ports Authority, which garnered three awards of excellence, 14 awards of distinction and 10 awards of merit.
