»AAPA HEADQUARTERS Port of Baltimore Hosts Congressional and USDOT Staff for Port Tour and Briefing On October 16, 25 Congressional and U.S. Department of Transportation (USDOT) staffers toured the Port of Baltimore and participated in a briefing on freight planning and funding, co-organized by the Port and AAPA. A lunch briefing began with a welcome from Port Deputy Executive Director Kathy Broadwater and included an overview of freight movement and ports by AAPA Vice President of Government Relations Susan Monteverde. Attendees then heard from a panel of experts, including representatives from the City of Baltimore, the Maryland Freight and Intermodalism office and the Port of Baltimore's Trade and Business Development Department. CSX and the Maryland Trucking Association also participated, and AAPA Director of Freight & Surface Transportation Policy John Young moderated the panel. Staff from the Senate Commerce, Finance and Environment and Public Works, House Transportation and Infrastructure (Freight Panel), and Ways and Means Committees participated in the tour and briefing. Representatives from the USDOT Office of Policy and the Maritime Administration also attended.
