A MESSAGE FROM LEADERSHIP
MEET THE AHE STAFF
Year-round, the AHE staff works hard and tirelessly on your behalf to elevate AHE as the global authority on caring for the healthcare
environment by representing, defining, and advancing EVS professionals.
Below is a brief introduction to all our staff members, including their roles and responsibilities in the organization. Feel free to reach
out to any of us at any time to answer your questions, provide guidance, and support you in your role as an EVS professional.

Patti Costello, Executive Director
Sharren Smith, M.A., Education Specialist
I serve as the chief staff executive overseeing our team of five individuals. I lead the
development of AHE's strategic plan with a
seven-member board of directors, directing
budget and programmatic development based
on membership and other stakeholder needs.
Further, I cultivate opportunities to align strategic and operational
activities to the overall enterprise AHA strategy. In addition, I
develop, lead, and advance AHE's annual sponsorship and partner
program. I do what I love, love what I do, and have fun doing it.

I collaborate with Sandra Rials (education
manager) and the Education & Knowledge
Management (EKM) Committee to develop
the ENGAGE platform. I also work very closely
with the Planning Committee for EXCHANGE to
select speakers and the format of the conference
each year. If you are considering becoming CHESP certified, I can
answer your questions about the exam, the CHESP Scholarship,

Sandra Rials, M.S., Education Manager
I work with the executive director and
committee members on AHE's educational
resources, including grant writing, conference program development and planning,
working with speakers and authors, and
development and implementation of the
ENGAGE program. I specialize in EVS evidence-based practices
that can further our profession and enrich the knowledge of

I work closely with the executive director and board of directors. I am the staff
liaison for the Nominating Committee
and the Advisory Council. I also manage
all conference registration processes and

Megan Burnette, Membership Coordinator
I work to recruit new members, help current members engage with AHE and our
member benefits, and renew their membership. I support existing AHE chapters and
help developing chapters get established.
Also, I work with the AHE awards and recognition program and serve as the staff liaison to the Recognition
Committee. I am always striving to keep member records
up-to-date, so if you have any updates to your contact information

Carrie Witt, Marketing & Communications
My responsibilities include maintaining the
AHE brand and image, creating and sending
all eCommunications (eNews, newsletter, and
emails), press releases, website content, and collaborating with our exhibitors, vendors, and sponsors throughout the year. I am the staff liaison
for the Industry Task Force. I assist in the development of new
partnerships and maintain relationships with companies that have
been industry leaders for many years. If your company would like
