If you watch the Tour de France, think about those motorcycles you see driving around photographers and spare wheels. That's what I'm doing this year, as a rookie. Favorite excursion: Anne and I trailered our motorcycle to the Black Hills of South Dakota in August 2012, and then spent the next week exploring The Badlands, Mt. Rushmore, Sturgis (when the annual rally was NOT in session, thank goodness), Crazy Horse, and Devils Tower National Monument. It was just a terrific, iconic "American Vacation" with just Anne and me - and a herd of bison. WIN: With more and more Insurance and Risk Management Programs being developed by Universities, what advice would you offer to young people entering our industry? Majsak: Your education does not have a hard stop with the receipt of your undergraduate diploma. It's only the foundation to a career of continuous development and growth. Both wholesale brokers and underwriters are expected to know how everything works, from a shoelace to a skyscraper. Emerging trends will forever be a part of the E&S landscape, with eager new policyholders looking for someone in the industry to provide them with solutions. Having the ability to tackle these creative challenges is a key competitive advantage. A personal investment in technical education in addition to ceaseless networking and relationship building will go a long way to building and sustaining a credible, likeable personal brand.
