New York State Association of Counties - 2014 Directory - (Page 7)
MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENT
I am pleased to present the 2014 NYSAC County Directory. This directory includes contact information for the
thousands of elected and appointed county officials across New York State.
The New York State Association of Counties (NYSAC) represents all of our member counties. This directory is the only
comprehensive listing of New York's current county officials. I am continually impressed by the dedication and ideas
these leaders bring to our counties and our association.
As local leaders, we know firsthand the triumphs and difficulties faced by our counties and our residents. Certainly,
this year brings new opportunities and new challenges for counties throughout the state.
As local leaders, we are faced every day with the challenge of providing important local services, strengthening
infrastructure, and working within the confines of an ever-shrinking revenue stream.
As a community of counties, we must educate the public and our state representatives about the impact state
mandates have on our counties, and advocate for reforms. Your association gives counties a strong voice, and I urge you
to join in the conversation.
NYSAC serves our members through detailed research, legal briefs, advocacy, training, and education programs as
well as offering partnership programs and services designed to save counties money.
There are a number of ways for you to get involved with all that NYSAC offers: attend the 2014 Fall Seminar in
Buffalo, join a standing committee, and be part of the collective county voice that advocates on behalf of the millions of
New Yorkers we serve. I look forward to working with you on behalf of our counties.
MESSAGE FROM THE EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR
The New York State Association of Counties (NYSAC) is proud to present the 2014 County Directory, a comprehensive
listing of the officials serving New York's counties. NYSAC remains dedicated to representing, educating, advocating for
and serving New York State's "community of counties."
NYSAC was created in 1925 as an extension of our counties for the purposes of training, educating and representing
county elected and appointed officials from across New York State. Today, we have not strayed from our original purposes.
As your association, our mission is to represent, educate, advocate for, and serve the thousands of elected and appointed
county officials in New York State.
In addition to this annual directory, NYSAC sponsors three major conferences each year, publishes a seasonal
magazine, daily county news, weekly reports from Albany, a series of policy briefs, and conducts surveys to gauge county
concerns on a wide array of issues.
NYSAC is not only the voice of county government in New York State, but the most trusted source for information
and research related to New York's counties. The NYSAC County Directory is the only annual directory and most
comprehensive publication of elected and appointed county employees from each county. I am certain you will find it to
be an invaluable resource.
