Training from ABA
ABABJ: How does the new Universal
Banker Certificate from ABA Training
meet the changing needs of banks
and their staffers?
Gauri Sharma: Our new Universal
Banker Certificate provides the knowledge and skills needed for one of retail
banking's fastest-growing roles. Our
program recognizes the shifting reality
of retail banking centers and the educational needs of the people tasked
with staffing them. It encompasses 11
courses to provide the knowledge and
skill sets that today's front-line staffers
need as single points of contact for
ABABJ: What else is ABA doing to
enhance training for bankers?
GS: We are making training offered by
ABA even better by enhancing the
course delivery and student experience. We're also continually rolling out
new content-like our new and wellreceived commercial lending courses
-and a totally new, mobile suite of
wealth management and trust courses. Industry research also shows that
millennials, who currently comprise
more than 50% of the workforce, are
eager for training and they want access to it when and where they
choose. As one of our members recently told us, training from ABA for
bank employees should be "just in
time, just enough and just for me."

BankPac Fundraising on Track
BankPac recently reported that it has raised nearly $1.3 million through the beginning
of August, putting it on track to reach its 2014 fundraising goal of $1.8 million. Funds

both receipts and candidate contributions and the largest single financial services PAC.
It is governed by a committee that includes community banks, large banks and representatives of state bankers associations.
