Builders Foundation Launches
Online Scholarship Application
or the past 15 years, the Builders Foundation has built a solid foundation
for the industry to grow upon by bolstering its future leaders through its
renewable scholarships. This year, the Foundation took a big leap in making
the application accessible to more students by launching online. The new online
platform streamlines the application process, allowing students, references and
reviewers to complete and view the application in one place.
Over the years, the Foundation has
awarded over $300,000 in cumulative
scholarships to 62 rising college juniors
and seniors studying construction
engineering or mechanical engineering
at an accredited Midwest school.
Each July, the Builders Foundation
hosts a golf outing, which serves as
the sole fundraiser for the scholarship.
The 2017 outing raised over $32,000 for
the fund. This year, Marissa Banks and
Igor Drab, 2017 scholarship recipients,
joined the golfers for the dinner
reception. Each said a few words about
how the scholarship is helping them
reach their goals.
"This incredible Foundation
enables me to completely focus on my
coursework and career so that I am
able to achieve my goals. I am truly
appreciative of the board members'
generosity, kindness, and support;
without this scholarship, I might not be

The Foundation looks forward
to announcing this cycle's award
recipients in early 2018. The
application for the 2019 cycle will

Inaugural Leadership Development
Course Launched in Early 2017
"This was a great course to better
myself and become a better manager,
parent, human. Everything we discussed
and worked on I could apply each day
as soon as I left the session. I am a more
confident person and a better manager
because of this course."
"This course is helpful for those
with any issues speaking in front
of groups, or for individuals that
lead. Whether or not you perceive
yourself to be a 'good' leader already
will be tested. Being immersed for
five months with other people helped
all participants pull themselves
out of their shells, and made me
much more successful in my job."

Graduates of the inaugural Leadership Development Course. Participants learned and practiced
skills in public speaking, memory recall/name recognition, conflict management, meeting
procedures and other proficiencies critical to leadership preparedness. The Builders Association
looks forward to offering this successful program again in the first half of 2018.
"I am more aware of the impact of
great listening skills and how useful it is
to understand issues and bring them to a
resolution with team members. I've always
struggled with remembering names and
at the end of the course it has become
natural to use the tools learned to remember
names, topics and other elements vital to
cultivating business relationships."
