2 014 SPR ING OPER AT IONS C ONFER ENC E PR E V IE W W hen 2013 wrapped up, AACS members were facing some of the toughest hardships they've had to endure in years. Many schools expressed they were facing low enrollment, state attacks and compliance concerns. With the turn of a new year, the Spring Operations Conference Committee had their work cut out as they were mapping out an agenda for this year's event in Phoenix, Arizona, May 2-5. "I believe we're in the midst of planning a dynamite conference, addressing school needs in every area," said David Yocum, the event chair. "This year's theme is Creating a Recipe for the Future, and our team brainstormed the membership's biggest problems and we're addressing them with the education offered this year." Here are some key ingredients to this year's convention that you won't want to miss: Keynote Speaker: Congressman Robert C. Scott Congressman Robert C. Scott is from Virginia and is the leading candidate to succeed retiring Representative George Miller as either the Chairman or Ranking Member of the important House Education and Workforce Committee in the 114th Congress.
