2 014 SPR ING OPER AT IONS C ONFER ENC E PR E V IE W W hen 2013 wrapped up, AACS members were facing some of the toughest hardships they've had to endure in years. Many schools expressed they were facing low enrollment, state attacks and compliance concerns. With the turn of a new year, the Spring Operations Conference Committee had their work cut out as they were mapping out an agenda for this year's event in Phoenix, Arizona, May 2-5. "I believe we're in the midst of planning a dynamite conference, addressing school needs in every area," said David Yocum, the event chair. "This year's theme is Creating a Recipe for the Future, and our team brainstormed the membership's biggest problems and we're addressing them with the education offered this year." Here are some key ingredients to this year's convention that you won't want to miss: Keynote Speaker: Congressman Robert C. Scott Congressman Robert C. Scott is from Virginia and is the leading candidate to succeed retiring Representative George Miller as either the Chairman or Ranking Member of the important House Education and Workforce Committee in the 114th Congress. Exciting New Session Formats From "fishbowl" style to Pecha Kucha, the conference will offer a variety of new ways to learn. Get more information in less time while speakers engage the audience with interactive teaching. Several sessions will include collaborative, roundtable discussions where you can learn not only from a top-industry speaker but also your peers. Training for Owners, Financial Aid and Admissions Educational sessions for Basic and Advanced financial aid, admissions staff and owners/directors give your staff members the exact training they need no matter what level of experience they have. With plenty of breakout sessions, you'll be able to get the specific education you need to succeed in your job role. Expert One-on-Ones Set up a 20-minute one-on-one with an expert in a variety of fields, including website development, social media, leadership, marketing, branding and other areas. This is your chance to have personal coaching at no extra cost. The Stunning Location This spectacular event location, The Sheraton Wild Horse Pass Resort & Spa, is set in Arizona's unique Gila River Indian Community. The quiet, Western landscape includes wild roaming horses. You can indulge in the Aji Spa, hit up two 18-hole golf courses or lay at one of four pools, which include a 111-foot waterslide. The hotel's sister location has a casino just minutes away, and you'll also find a brand new Premium Outlet Mall within walking distance. Take advantage of additional discount days before and after the conference to make a vacation out of your stay in Arizona.
