BCL scholarships are open to students at every AACS member school. Each scholarship competition requires applicants to submit an essay or video application addressing how a career in beauty and wellness will change their life. BCL is exploring social media channels for future application submissions. Following are some tips to help students apply for scholarships: * Share your story. Share the personal journey that has led you to choose beauty. * Be passionate. Judges are not looking for a "meh" attitude, so let your personality shine through. Winners have submitted exuberant, melancholy and even rebellious videos, but they have always been passionate. * Answer the key question. Explain how you will use a career in beauty to change lives. Visit to view previous winners' videos and read their essays. The videos provide examples of the passion, emotion and creativity judges are looking for. Susan Miller is editorial director for BeautyLink magazine.
