Use Your RESOURCES MARKETING RESOURCES AVAILABLE AT YOUR FINGERTIPS BY GERARD MCAVEY W hile not one who frequently begins an article on a negative note, I would be remiss if I didn’t acknowledge that the collective beauty industry has been navigating some very choppy waters. A number of states across the nation are facing potential deregulation, and for those of you who own (or work in) a private beauty school, you’ve been encountering sweeping changes from a legislative standpoint that show no signs of abating in the immediate future. That being said, we’re seeing enormous and encouraging mobilization efforts when it comes to opposing deregulation in affected states. The collaboration of member schools demonstrates the inherent wisdom in the saying, “There’s strength in numbers”! When it comes to the school industry specifically, the American Association of Cosmetology Schools (AACS) and its membership has been consistently working on efforts to combat many of the legislative threats facing our industry. We’re moving beyond our ongoing efforts to rise above the fray and “advocate for educational excellence.” Don’t forget!! The hair, beauty and wellness profession is a premier career of choice. As long as there are students who intend to make a career in the industry, all of us must work together to ensure that aspiring beauty students find a cosmetology school with a welcoming admissions door and a waiting desk. Learn More From the amazing classes and expert resources consistently offered during AACS conferences, to the engaging conversations taking place on the AACS ListServe, resources are plentiful. The course ML140 – Marketing Essentials is available on the AACS Online Training Center at www. Members call AACS at 800-831-1086 for your VIP Discount Code.
