The award, which is sponsored by Milady and the American Association of Cosmetology Schools, is given to one educator who has shown the most significant contribution towards upgrading professional standards of educational excellence, particularly within the area of student involvement, during the past year. Kathy received $2,500 cash, a plaque, airfare and hotel expenses paid to attend CEA, and attendance at a Milady Master Educator regional event. Lisa Puckett Kenneth Shuler Schools of Cosmetology’s Staff & Students Receive National Honors Kenneth Shuler Schools of Cosmetology student Mykela Hallums was recently announced as one of the nation’s three winners of the Beauty Changes Lives Celebrity Mentorship Competition. Mykela won a mentorship with Johnny Wright, hairstylist to First Lady Michelle Obama. As part of the competition, Mykela was required to submit a video explaining how beauty can change lives and how a mentorship with a celebrity stylist would change her life. Finally, another staff member, Lisa Puckett, just finished making two presentations on innovative teaching techniques at the CEA annual convention in Las Vegas.
