Jim took the time to introduce me to key
industry personnel, relate key situations that
shaped the industry, and answered every
question I could come up with. If there is one
piece of advice he gave me, one from experience, was to pace myself. I like to tackle
everything at once, but some things are best
evaluated over time.

While I haven't run anything longer than a
5k recently, I would like to someday run the
JFK 50 miler here in D.C. That is BIG bucket
list item for me.
I am also an avid backpacker. I've hiked
in 15 or more states, including an international backpack to Mount Everest Base
Camp in 2004.

A year from now, how do
you envision AACS? In what
areas would you like to see the
association grow and be stronger?

Tell us about your family.

Change is difficult, but with the right attitude we can make positive things happen
for our industry. I am confident that we
will transform AACS into a leaner, meaner
association by delivering consistently highquality education and benefits that members want.

I have an incredibly supportive wife, Kristen,
who is an educator for our county school
system. We've been married for 10 years and

First, in respect to Government Affairs, I
want to help our members not just survive,
but thrive in this environment. This is a
pivotal moment in our members' livelihoods
and we need to give them the tools to get
involved and fight back.
Secondly, I want to seek out new and
innovative ways to deliver quality education. I want to produce educational opportunities that members get excited about.
That's important as they face a challenging
business environment.
Third, I want to focus on our internal
operations. We work hard, but I think we
can work smarter in how we deliver our
services and become a real value to our
members.

have two girls; Olivia (7) and Adelaide (5 ½).
We also have a hamster named Zeus.

convention (CEA & AMP). What
was the experience like?
I loved it. Our staff, along with our
volunteers, made it happen. It was a
great convention. The feedback was
positive, and we are seeking to bring
that energy over to the AACS Annual
Convention and Expo in Orlando
(November 4-7, 2016).

I used to run competitively after college.
