team, encouraging team sharing on difficult cases and available resources, and
increase bonding time allotment.

Although 10 team members participated
in the team building exercise, only five completed the survey. After analyzing the survey's results, the feedback showed three
out of five agreed the initial team-building
exercise was beneficial for improving team
relational skills. Each participant agreed
team bonding was poor prior to the implementation of the project. Ongoing teambonding exercises were recommended by
80 percent of participants.
Future team-bonding exercises, current
department participants say, should be
continued with some modification to the

activities. Team members should be
paired as mentors for a specific timeframe based on skills and knowledge,
such as nurses with social workers.
This will allow for team interaction
and support. The virtual nametag
will be reformatted to include some
areas of professional background;
for example, providing a picture of a
heart and explaining their expertise
is in cardiac. Further team-building
activities for the virtual team should
be developed with a department committee. This committee should consist of three to four members from
the virtual team. The committee
will collaborate on different team
bonding exercises.
Implementing and developing
tools to build relational skills in the
virtual work environment is necessary and vital for future team bonding. After some minor changes to
the project, future team bonding
will be vastly improved. This activity will ultimately increase morale,
team bonding and trust, resulting in i
mproved patient outcomes. ■
