EVDS delivers Alberta's only accredited programs in Architecture, Planning, and Environmental Design - and soon in Landscape Architecture. As an academic and practitioner Nancy has focused on the meaning, the history and the resilience of significant landscapes, from urban to regional, local to international, and contemporary to ancient. 3_FRANCISCO A. ALANIZ URIBE, BSc Arch, MPDu, MEDes (urban Design), PhD candidate, MCIP, RPP, is an Assistant Professor in the university of Calgary's EVDS. He has been Research Associate at the EVDS urban Lab and Associate with Sandalack + Associates Inc. since 2004 when he moved to Calgary from Monterrey, Mexico. His PhD research involves the relationships between urban quality, human behaviour and development processes. 2_BEVERLY A. SANDALACK, PhD, M Land Arch, FCSLA, MCIP, RPP, is Professor and Associate Dean (Academic) Environmental Design & Planning, and Interim Ph.D. Program Director at the university of Calgary's EVDS, as well as Research Leader of the EVDS urban Lab. Her Calgarybased firm, Sandalack + Associates Inc., specializes in urban design, open space planning, campus planning, and small town planning and design. Bev is excited to be developing a landscape architecture program at the university. 4_KEITH A. KRUMWIEDE is Associate Professor and Director of Graduate Architecture Programs at the New Jersey Institute of Technology. At NJIT, he is a founding member of the Center for Resilient Design where he guides the Center's academic and research efforts in the graduate program. His research focuses on issues of housing and sustainability in the American city. 5_THOMAS G. DALLESSIO, AICP/PP, is Director of NJIT's Center for Resilient Design and an Instructor at the College of Architecture and Design, where he teaches in NJIT's Master of Infrastructure Planning program. He has lectured widely, coordinated studios, instituted roundtable discussions and organized Alternative Spring Breaks to help communities rebuild after Superstorm Sandy and other disasters. 6_JEFFREY STAATES, CSLA, BCSLA, OALA, SALA, ASLA, is a Partner and Senior Landscape Architect for PFS Studio. His diverse design background includes a degree in architecture, and practice in interior design, planning and landscape architecture. With over twenty years of professional experience, Jeffrey has led a number of the firm's most challenging public realm design assignments (Vaughan City Hall, West Don Lands, and Ottawa's Lansdowne Park.) 2014 vol.16_no.4 13
