Food Service & Nutrition - Spring 2017 - 20
By Cheryl Brewster, B.Msc
You have an important meeting coming up
and a lot on your plate - time is short and
you've got a team to lead. They're relying
on you to provide quality guidance to help
them be successful. So how do you intuitively ensure that you haven't missed
anything and that you're prepared for
potential hazards and brilliant success?
Intuition is defined as "the immediate knowing of something without the
conscious use of reasoning." It's the most
trustworthy sense we have, going beyond
the data gathering of the five senses.
Bubbling up from the subconscious mind,
it is controlled by the thoughts and beliefs
of the conscious mind. That's why affirmations and visualizations are strategic
tools in goal setting and meeting preparation; they act like homing beacons so your
intuition or creative imagination has a
target to zero in on. This target is a gateway through which intuition delivers vital
information to the conscious mind that is
relevant to your goals. In fact, intuition's
ability to provide telepathic information
from others' thoughts and experiences can
make you more aware of another person's
real needs than they are! Like a faithful
guide dog, intuition guides, predicts and
warns - it sniffs out ideas you haven't
thought of yet, finds opportunities that
are to your greatest advantage and keeps
you safe from potential threats.
Canadian motivational speaker and
author and respected world business
thought leader Brian Tracy attributes
success to the power of intuition: "You
can overcome any obstacle, solve any
problem, or achieve any goal by tapping
into the incredible powers of your mind
and by trusting your intuition. Once you
begin to develop and use your intuition,
you will become more alert, more aware,
smarter, and more effective in everything
that you do."
Want to powerhouse your next meeting
for optimum results? Follow this three-step
intuitive process of need, attune, apply.
IDENTIFY THE NEED
Schedule uninterrupted time. Close
your office door, turn off the phone, get
quiet, breathe, clear your mind of chatter
and relax into the creative imagination of
your sixth sense. Start with your highest inner-most value, allow yourself to
melt into it and visualize the best possible outcome for you and your team.
Prime your intuition by identifying the
need and attuning to its attainment.
Intuition is your faithful servant and
delivers what you ask for. Focus on the
end results and visualize massive success. The subconscious cannot tell the
difference between actual and imaginary
events, so the stronger the feeling that
the results are already here, the more the
subconscious attunes to that vibration
and searches its database with the ideas,
insight and guidance to match it.
Designate a journal specific to these
exercises and write down your impressions
to the following questions, remembering
that intuition is not language-based so
your information will come from pictures
on your mental screen, imagination, past
memories, hunches and gut feelings.
ATTUNE TO SUCCESSFUL RESULTS
Ask specific single-issue questions
to gather the intelligence you need. For
