PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE

New Updates at CSNM

The 2016/17 year for the CSNM board has been a busy one
thus far, with all board members revved up and hitting the
floors running with projects to meet the needs of the CSNM
membership!
Our first edition of Food Service & Nutrition magazine with
our new publisher, Naylor Association Solutions, was quite
a success. As mentioned in previous communications, we needed to change
publishers and had a short time to complete such an onerous task. A lot of
time and energy was put into ensuring we are able to continue to provide
our members with a quarterly magazine - something that we know you value.
The magazine is now also available through our CSNM app, allowing you to
keep up to date from your smartphones or tablets!
Just this past spring, our CSNM app was launched at the 2016 conference
and AGM. We are happy to provide information on the society, media such as
photos, the magazine and links to other important areas. We are still working
on expanding the app to provide more useful and interesting features to our
members. Feedback is always welcome so please feel free to contact us with
any ideas or suggestions you might have. We want to provide you with what
you need in the field of nutrition management, be it support, education or
perhaps areas of interest that might be new to you.
Our continuing education committee is also stepping up its game. We
understand the value it holds for so many of you and want to be able to
bring education to you - no matter where you live across Canada! A schedule of upcoming webinars has been sent out covering various topics and
applicable CSNM competencies and we continue to work on adding more to
the schedule. In addition to hosting these webinars we are also working on
some ideas of how we can provide continuing education that is available to
you on your schedule.
And students, we really hope to be hearing from all of you with our new
Student Competition being launched September 2016! We are so excited that
you have a passion for this field and want to help with the learning experience. We also look forward to having you as student members of our society.
Details will be circulated to you from your accredited programs and we can't
wait to see the participation to come throughout the fall.
You might have noticed some surveys that have come your way as well. We
really do appreciate your feedback. We'll be working with this information,
together as a board on strategic planning to set goals for the next few years
on how we can best deliver the needs of our membership. We are off to a
great start this year and we will continue to deliver our best to you! Planning
for the 2017 Conference and AGM is well under way and we couldn't be more
excited to celebrate this year in Ottawa for our Nation's 150th birthday! We'll
be getting more information out soon and encourage anyone in the Ottawa
or surrounding area to consider volunteering.
