Becoming Food Aware

hat does it mean to be "Food
Aware"? Why does it matter?
In Canada, over 45 per cent of
all hospital and long-term-care patients
are malnourished or at risk upon admission. This statistic has been validated
both within Canada and internationally.
The promotion of being "Food Aware"
is a patient-centred approach to nutrition that involves everyone in ensuring a
focus on food and patient intake to reduce
and/or prevent malnutrition.
Malnutrition can be defined as the
