The main elevation of the housing project is directly across the street from the UCF campus.
If you remember attending college
and living in a dorm room with a
hotplate and a bathroom down the
hall, you're from another generation.
Today, colleges and universities offer
students the option of living quarters
with "resort style" amenities and
NorthView Student Housing is one such
facility. It is sited across the street from
the UCF main campus on land owned
by the UCF Foundation. The project
represents a coordinated effort between
the foundation, a private development
partner, UCF Housing and Residence
Life and Finfrock, the integrated design/
build firm. It was determined by market
analysis that despite the wide spectrum of
housing options offered to UCF students,
there was a segment at the top of the
market whose needs were not being met.
NorthView was designed to fill that niche.
In addition to privacy and luxurious
amenities, the facility houses two faithbased student organizations, one Jewish
and one Catholic, both of which utilize
space on the lower levels.
NorthView was delivered under a fully
system. One of the main advantages
of using this system was the short
construction schedule. The schedule was
a make-or-break deal for the developer
since the facility had to open in time for
the 2013 fall semester.
The seven-story precast concrete
building was designed to meet the needs
of the students, the university and the
surrounding neighborhood. While the site
includes an undeveloped forested green
space that buffers the student housing
from a residential area on the north,
there are also landscaped grounds on the
Lobby and security desk, which is manned 24 hours a day.
