Our Momentum Pointing
in One Direction: Up!
ow!!! As I look back, I think that is the one word that sums up the 2013 Sunshine Food
and Fuel Expo and FPMA Convention. If you attended this year’s Convention and Expo
you know the buzz and excitement that was in the air, as this year we partnered up
with the Asian American Store Owners Association (AASOA). We were happy to hear conversations among both marketer and supplier members, with comments, such as, “We haven’t had
an Expo with excitement and attendance like this in 10+ years.” Beyond the Expo, we had great
opportunities for networking, educational and informative seminars, and inspirational and industry
speakers. If you didn’t attend the Convention and Expo this year, I hope you will join us next year
at the beautiful Hilton Bonnet Creek, as we continue to build on the momentum of this past year
and make next year’s Convention and Expo even better.
On behalf of the FPMA we can’t begin to thank everyone involved enough. We would like to thank
all our generous sponsors, the FPMA Board, the Committee Chairs and their members, FPMA Staff
and interns, and the countless volunteers who gave of their time, talent and treasure that made this
an unbelievably successful event. I would especially like to thank Ned Bowman, Cyndi Sims, Joanna
Wolff, Ivy Rooney, and the convention committee of Don Bodie, Bill McKnight, Greg Bradley, and the
Executive Director of ASSOA, Vipul Patel, for a job very well done. Thank you!
Moving forward, I’m honored to be elected as the 2013/2014 Chairman for FPMA.
I appreciate the trust you’ve all vested in our Executive Committee and Board, and feel
confident that we will do our best to make you proud to be part of the FPMA. As I look
back over the past three years, FPMA has come almost full circle. We are in very stable
condition and will continue to build on our storied past and excellent reputation, while
innovating to keep us relevant and vibrant going forward. This couldn’t have been done
without the support of the membership and its willingness to do whatever it took to keep
the FPMA alive and strong. So, again, I would like to say thank you to all members, and especially
the past and current leadership teams involved on the board and committees.
We have an exciting year planned! I look forward to seeing you at our key events:
• Scholarship Golf Tournament and Conference of Committees at the Vinoy Renaissance in
St. Petersburg, October 21-22
• Legislative Session that will prove to be one of our most important
• Regional Meetings to foster networking and education throughout the state
• Sunshine Food and Fuel Expo and FPMA Convention in Orlando, August 1-4
I hope that if you’re not actively involved in the FPMA already, you will consider lending us your
support and become actively involved again. This is our association, and together we can make it
better and stronger and advance our industry issues! I look forward to seeing you throughout the
coming year. Should you have any questions, comment or suggestions, please let us know.
This is our association, and
together we can make it
better and stronger and
advance our industry issues!
