and Much More!
his message is being written on the eve of FPMA in
Paradise, the 2014 Summer Conference at the Sawgrass
Marriott. Due to the printing schedule of FPMA's Pest
Perspectives magazine, there will be plenty of coverage of this
great event in the next magazine issue!
In the meantime, there is still plenty of activity with your
association! With our publishing partner Naylor, LLC, FPMA has launched online
CEUs based on video taken of Dr. Phil Koehler and his University of Florida
colleagues at the 2014 Pest and Lawn Care Expo. These video-based CEUs, the
first of their kind, are approved for two hours of GHP, Core, L&O and WDO
credit; they recreate the experience of being at Expo! Check them out at the
FPMA website: www.flpma.org.
August also means meetings of FPMA committees to plan for the remainder
of the year - the Education, Membership and Expo committees will discuss their
respective charges and complete their plans for growth, events and activities. With
more than 50 members serving on committees, FPMA is truly Member Driven.
In September, FPMA will host a series of workshops that will review all areas
of OSHA compliance for PMPs, such as posting signage, fall protection, ladder
safety, PPE, GHS training, and many others, Attendees will earn a Certificate of
Competence from a professional OSHA consultant and former regulatory inspector.
There will be four convenient dates and locations:
* September 2 - IFAS Ft. Lauderdale REC, Broward County
* September 4 - IFAS Extension Office, Seffner, Hillsborough County
* September 9 - Orange County Extension office, Orlando
* September 11 - Duval County Extension office, Jacksonville
Workshops will run from 10 a.m.-4 p.m., and will Include a workshop
booklet, compliance forms, Certificate of Competence and lunch. Look for
online registration soon!
Believe it, or not, it's also time to start planning for the Pest and Lawn Care
Expo 2015! The next premier event will feature a partnership with Marathon
Data Systems and the Pestpac Software User Conference. In addition to Florida
pest professionals, we are expecting dozens of companies from across the
country to visit the Sunshine State and enjoy Expo's expansive exhibit hall,
engaging CEUs, business-related sessions, the Expo Golf Classic and networking
opportunities. It's a great way to share all that Expo offers with a new national
audience and to show how FPMA is Industry Focused!
