Eastern Airlines Returns to the Skies
A familiar name in the aviation industry - Eastern Air Lines - welcomed its
first new aircraft on Dec. 19. Ex-Kenya Airways Boeing 737-800 "The Spirit of
Captain Eddie Rickenbacker," N276EA, arrived from Shannon, Ireland (SNN), via
Portsmouth, New Hampshire (PSN), into the airline's base at Miami International
Airport to a water-cannon salute.
Eastern Air Lines operated from 1928 to 1991 as one of the largest U.S. domestic air carriers. As one of the "Big Four" airlines (along with United, Delta and
American) Eastern dominated the passenger airline business in the United States
for nearly 50 years.
In early 2014, Eastern Air Lines Group, Inc. was formed to re-launch Eastern Air
Lines as a passenger airline with its main base of operations at Miami International
Airport (MIA). Eastern's headquarters is located in Building 5A at MIA.

The ISTAT Foundation Internship Program
The ISTAT Foundation is continuing its internship program and is requesting possible placements with its ISTAT members for summer 2015. The aim is to assist
in the development and education of aviation-focused college students desiring
to become productive members in the aircraft trading, OEM, MRO, financing and
leasing industries.
All employers interested in becoming involved in the ISTAT internship program
can do so by submitting an internship opportunity through the ISTAT internship
system. Before submitting a position, you will need to register with the ISTAT
Internship Committee. To register, please contact either Damon D'Agostino at
damon.dagostino@cit.com or Warren Willits at wwillits@jetstarpartners.com.

In Memoriam
J.P. Morgan Top Analyst Joe Nadol Killed in
Train Accident
Joseph Nadol, an active ISTAT member and a J.P. Morgan
Chase & Co. managing director was among the six people
killed when a Metro-North Railroad train collided with a
SUV in Westchester County, New York in February. He was 42.
Nadol was extremely well known in the aviation community as one of
the top analysts. He claimed the No. 1 spot among aerospace and defense
analysts for the first time in 2009. Institutional Investor reported that his
clients praised him "for his abilities to 'think on his own' and 'smell management B.S. a mile away.'"
Nadol was a married father of three sons. ISTAT has established a special scholarship fund in his memory, and members may donate online at
the Foundation website, or mail a check to the ISTAT offices marked Attn:
Joseph Nadol Memorial Scholarship Fund.
