aviation. A grant to the Intrepid Museum
in New York has provided a nice benefit
of complimentary admission for ISTAT
Members, which a number of individuals
were able to enjoy during our December
holiday reception in the city.
With a long-standing focus on students,
we awarded scholarships to 72 students
from 25 countries around the world, totaling $380,680. As part of that total, and
thanks to the generosity of Norman C.T. Liu,
we were able to expand our giving in China
with 16 scholarships awarded to Chinese
students. Additionally, we created a new
tier of scholarship giving to reward the
best and brightest students with an even
greater level of financial support. During
the summer of 2016, we facilitated the
placement of 16 students in summer internship programs, and offered those students
stipends of up to $2,500 to help offset
travel and housing costs. This supported
students who would not have otherwise
been able to accept a summer internship
outside of their home town.
In December, the ISTAT University
(ISTAT U) program graduated its second
class of seven students at Embry-Riddle in
Daytona Beach, Florida. In addition, fulfilling the objective of bringing our education
programs to the world's classroom, our online
version of ISTAT U began in October. There
are 10 graduate-level students enrolled
from seven different countries in Asia,
North America and Europe.
In 2016, we also launched the ISTAT
Ambassador Program with 48 ISTAT members serving as volunteer ambassadors to
help the Foundation build a direct relationship with universities around the world.
This initiative will keep the universities
better apprised of our student initiatives and foster a greater awareness of
our industry outside of the more obvious
university channels.
Financially, the ISTAT community
has been such a generous supporter of
our mission. In 2016, your support of
$467,500 was a large portion of our almost
$1,000,000 overall budget. This comes in
addition to the support we have received
from our 2016 Roundtable donors: Air
Lease Corporation, Aircastle, Amedeo,
Apollo Aviation, ATR, Bombardier, Bristol
Associates, CIT Aerospace, Decker Rimmer
Foundation, FedEx, GE Aviation, GECAS,
Jetscape, Katten Munchen Roseman, Nordic

Aviation Capital, Plane View Partners, Pratt
& Whitney, Seabury Group and VX Partners.
We also have some terrific corporate sponsors who underwrote our 2016 fundraising
events: Aerolease, Avitas, Bombardier,
Jetran and Vedder Price. Thank you to all
24 organizations for your support!
As you can see, 2016 was a very busy yet
very rewarding year! I would again like to
thank the 17 trustees and 20 additional
committee members who put forth a tremendous effort to make all of this happen.

Looking forward, in 2017 we will surpass $5.5 million in cumulative support
provided to students and humanitarian
organizations over the past 10 years. With
a track record for growth of more than
250 percent since 2010, your support and
dedicated volunteers, I am confident that
we have a very exciting future ahead for
