#feature EXPLORING ALTERNATIVE VENUES IN LAS VEGAS BY REINA HERSCHDORFER I n a city like Las Vegas that thrives on offering the unexpected, one thing that is expected is a variety of alternative venues outside of your meeting space that can take you to the next level. Las Vegas has some of the most incredible hotels, award-winning restaurants - many with celebrity chefs - and spectacular entertainment. It's a city that is ever-changing and adding more venues. If you're looking for a cutting-edge, unconventional experience, Caesars Entertainment offers The LINQ Promenade - the Las Vegas Strip's first open-air shopping, dining and entertainment district located between the new LINQ Hotel & Casino and the Flamingo. This first-class experience combined with live street and venue entertainment offers energy unlike any other. Attendees have the added benefit of being able to enjoy this pedestrian-friendly district long after their event is over. The LINQ Promenade's highlight is the world's tallest observation wheel, the High Roller. Groups can rent a single cabin The Brooklyn Bowl at The LINQ. 12 @MPIGNY WINTER 2015 or the entire wheel for their private use. Cabins can even accommodate a bartender with a roll-on bar. The High Roller features 28 spherical, Italian-handcrafted glassenclosed cabins. Each cabin weighs 44,000 pounds and can hold up to 40 people, totaling 1,120 at full capacity. Standing 550 feet tall, it has more than 2,000 LED lights that create a stunning display. The High Roller lights up each night with changing colors and patterns, which can be branded for special events. After the ride, the event can continue in the High Roller Wheel House event space with a beautiful outdoor patio overlooking the wheel while giving guests an inside look on the behind-the-scene mechanics. In addition, High Roller's LED display customization can be coordinated with The Vortex at The LINQ's Strip-facing entrance, a stunning architectural element and outdoor event space with almost 20,000 square feet scheduled to open in March 2015. The Vortex is embedded with LED lights that can be timed to create a visual masterpiece unlike any other throughout the entire promenade. Additionally, digital signage promoting the event or meeting sponsors can be displayed on the 130-feet tall, three sided marquee for The LINQ, which faces the world famous Las Vegas Boulevard. Brooklyn Bowl is another amazing venue inside The LINQ Promenade that regularly features world-renowned musical performances by bands such as Jane's Addiction, Big and Rich, The Smashing Pumpkins and The Roots. It offers bowling, but also has some of the best food in Las Vegas with its famous fried chicken, and can easily accommodate large groups looking for a different type of venue. The options don't stop at The LINQ Promenade, however. At the Strip's only stand-alone boutique hotel, The Cromwell, is Drai's Beach Club * Nightclub. Operating as two venues in one, this 65,000-squarefeet venue offers panoramic partying on the rooftop of The Cromwell. For a daytime experience, the venue has an unparalleled view that is 11 stories high and includes the Strip's only rooftop pool deck. After dark, the beach setting turns into a pulsating nighttime destination, where a private group can party throughout the entire indoor and outdoor space. For a more "traditional" alternative venue experience, groups can meet and dine at the Las Vegas location of Carmine's, the legendary New York City family-style Italian restaurant, inside the Forum Shops at Caesars Palace. Groups of 15 or more can choose from abundant, specially designed four-course menus. The venue offers over 800 seats and nine private dining rooms, providing plenty of room for any type of event. In Las Vegas, it doesn't matter what type of event or meeting needs to happen, because the city holds the answer to the perfect alternative venue. Whether a group wants to party all night long on top of The Cromwell inside Drai's Beach Club Nightclub, or an event needs a more intimate space such as on the patio at Chayo, Las Vegas offers it all.  @ Reina Herschdorfer is director of marketing for Caesars Entertainment National Meetings and Events.
