#destination WHAT'S NEW IN THe Music city F rom its very beginnings, Nashville grew from a foundation built on music. Music has been the common thread connecting the life and soul of the city and its people. And visitors have ventured here to experience the music that weaves such a fundamental pattern in the city's cultural, business, and social fabric. It's this lifeblood that also make Nashville a unique destination for meetings. Here are just a few of the reasons why the Music City continues to hit all the right notes. NEW & NoTEWoRTHy The "Mother Church of Country Music" and Pollstar's Theatre Venue of the Year, the Ryman Auditorium unveiled its $14 million expansion this summer, including a café, new event space, a multi-media history tour, in addition to renovations of the box office, restrooms and the concessions and merchandising area. Antique Archaeology, made famous on the hit TV show "American Pickers," has opened in Music City just a few blocks away from downtown Nashville. Here you will find your favorite Antique Archaeology gear, including their latest Nashville exclusive designs, plus new picks that you may have seen on the show. Experience Nashville's exploding craft brew scene with one of the city's new brew tours: Music City Brew Tours or the Nashville Brew Bus! These tours offer your group a behind-the-scenes look at some of Nashville's best breweries. Nashville Brew Bus's knowledgeable tour guides will be on hand to educate your group on Nashville beer history - past and present. RESTAURANTS THAT RoCK There's a different kind of "Nashville artist" you need to know about. Some of the most creative minds in this rapidly growing Southern city are found in kitchens, not only on stages, crafting menus rather than melodies - and their hits are just as memorable. Blending a hotter-than-ever culinary scene with the country's hottest music scene, this happening city is the perfect place for die-hard food and music lovers to fuel their passions. Make the most of your next trip to Music City with these rockin' Bon Appetit-recommended restaurants: In Germantown, you'll find City House, where chef Tandy Wilson books up an Italian-influenced menu, and 5th & Taylor, where chef Daniel Lindley offers a heartfelt take on "the American family meal." If you're downtown, grab a quick lunch at Mexican taqueria Bajo Sexto or check out Robert's Western World, one of the few touristy establishments where visitors to the city can mingle with locals. And no trip to Nashville would be complete without a visit to either Patterson House, Holland House ... or maybe both. MUSICAL RENoVATIoNS Hilton Nashville Downtown has undergone a $32-million renovation, including upgrades to all 330 guest suites, the doubled-in-size fitness center, the grand ballroom, 17,800 square feet of meeting space, and a completely renovated grand atrium lobby and lounge. The hotel introduced a new concierge lounge on the lobby level. Contemporary design is showcased across the entryway, new flooring is intact, and a more interactive front desk experience is in place. Loews Vanderbilt underwent a $17-million renovation, which includes a new restaurant and bar, rebuilt corridors, lobby space, and guest and public bathrooms. Using local music, fashion, and food as design inspiration, the hotel features a sleek, modern style with vintage inspiration. Mason Bar and Mason's restaurant has a "Southern brasserie feeling...with a French influence." Mason Bar has a video wall and wiring capabilities that allow musicians to "plug and play." Finally, the Sheraton Nashville Downtown Hotel underwent a $25-million transformation in spring 2014 and towers 28 stories over Music City. In addition to fully-renovated guestrooms, guests will experience a transformed reception area, wine bar, meeting space, and lobby, complete with a 25-story lobby chandelier made of blown glass. @ To learn more about meeting in Nashville, visit www.visitmusiccity.com. mpigny.org 25 http://www.visitmusiccity.com http://www.mpigny.org
