MPIGNY TALKS WITH
MARISSA LYNN PILKU
MARISSA LYNN PILKU
ASSOCIATE MEETING PLANNER
Role within MPIGNY: I am a new member and team member on
the Marketing & Communications Committee.
Tell us a little about yourself, your career and current position.
My experience with events started in the hospitality industry,
but after many early mornings running into late nights, I decided
to change the direction of my career and join the corporate side.
I joined KPMG LLP in 2010 and have loved every minute. The
hospitality industry gave me a great foundation, and KPMG LLP
has really fine-tuned those skills. My current position keeps me
quite busy. My focus is on end-to-end meeting solutions; I am
responsible for all aspects of each meeting. At times it's quite
hectic; however, it's always satisfying looking back at a specific
month and seeing our statistics.
Why did you decide to join MPIGNY? I jointed MPIGNY at the
World Education Congress in 2013 in Las Vegas. There was no
question after I met so many of the members. Not only did my
network grow by joining, but my knowledge of the industry has
grown as well.
How long have you been a member? Almost one year!
What committee are you on and what are you most looking
forward to doing this year? I am working with the Marketing
& Communications Committee. I am really looking forward
to enhancing this skill set and collaborating with MPIGNY
What is your favorite part of being part of MPIGNY? The
education that is offered and, of course, the members.
What is your greatest source of job satisfaction? Seeing the
meetings come to life and the appreciation from clients!
What are your hobbies and what do you like to do in your spare
time? I am a fitness enthusiast! I love trying new classes around
the city. Recently half marathons have become a tradition for a
friend and me, so we are always looking for fun half marathons
sign up for! Tennis has been a part of my life since I was 6, so
my husband and I have some competitive matches. My godson
Frankie, who is about to turn 3, is a great source of comedy for
our family. @
