[ EVENTS ] MPINCC's Annual Gala & Silent Auct ion I It truly was an evening of glitz, glamour and stars on June 4 when MPINCC and Presenting Sponsor Los Angeles Tourism & Convention Board rolled out the red carpet at the Annual Gala & Silent Auction. The historic Bently Reserve in San Francisco's financial district provided a high-end backdrop to this star-studded event that celebrated the chapter, its accomplishments in the 2014-2015 program year, and 10 very deserving annual award winners. Gala guests arriving at the venue were welcomed by flappers and quickly found their way into the reception to enjoy delectable and beautiful appetizers sponsored by La Bonne Cuisine and a host of beverages sponsored by numerous wine and spirits sponsors. Some attendees were lucky enough to experience Orange Photography's Light Paint booth while others enjoyed musical entertainment provided by Entire Productions. And everyone viewed the 60 auction items, using their personal smartphones to bid electronically via BiddingForGood made possible through Technology Sponsor Team San Jose, helping raise funds for the chapter while vying to walk away a winner of one (or more!) of the auction items. Guests were then invited into the beautifully lit and decorated Banking Hall for dinner provided by Le Meridien and the much anticipated awards presentation. Stunning lighting effects and perfectly balanced audio was provided throughout the evening by Avista Event Productions, MPINCC's exclusive audio visual sponsor. Mistress of Ceremonies Molly Walsh, CMP, kept the evening on track and adapted admirably to the surprise showing of the exciting final minutes of the first game of the NBA Finals with the Warriors vs. Cavaliers. Jody Brandes, CMP, made her closing remarks as 2014-2015 president and presented awards to some of the finest volunteers and contributors to the chapter. It was a special moment when Diane Schneiderman, CMP, CAE, recently retired executive director of MPINCC, returned to the stage after accepting her President's Award to swear in the 2015-2016 Board of Directors. MPINCC is "Your Practice Field" according to 2015-2016 President Joey Nevin, as he spoke of his vision for each MPI member and the chapter for the coming year. He encouraged everyone to move outside their comfort zones and try something new as they engage with the chapter this year: learn a new skill, share your expertise with others, be part of the team that makes MPINCC the powerful chapter it is. As the official part of the Gala concluded, those still looking for more enjoyed a lively After Party "behind the curtain" where espresso, cheesecake and beverages were enjoyed to the cool sounds of Simon Sax. If you attended the Gala, you know what a great party it was. If you couldn't be there this year, be sure it makes it on your calendar in 2016. ● 12 | P E R S P E C T I V E |
