[ PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE ] Connections Matter BY JAMES GREGG, INTERCONTINENTAL HOTELS OF SAN FRANCISCO T This year’s theme is “Connections Matter,” and in keeping with the theme I wanted to outline a few of the ways MPI provides opportunities for our members to connect. One of my favorite connection tools is our website – Our website provides all of the most up-to-date information including upcoming events, chapter leadership information, opportunities to volunteer and, my personal favorite, the online membership directory. For those of you who have not used our online membership directory lately (or ever!), I would recommend you take a few minutes to check it out. Our online directory is updated constantly and provides the most current contact information for our members. It also has a search functionality, which provides you with the ability to find other members via keywords, job titles, company, industry, designation and more. Our website provides all Another great connection tool that can be accessed via our of the most up-to-date website is portals to all of our chapter’s social media outlets. information including Go ahead and connect with your preferred social media upcoming events, chapter platform – Twitter, Facebook or LinkedIn. For the record, I’m leadership information, an awful tweeter, but I would love to connect with you on opportunities to volunteer LinkedIn! and, my personal favorite, the online membership directory. Perhaps the most tried and true way our members connect with each other is by attending chapter events. The Board of Directors has committed to providing our members with variety this year in all aspects of our annual events calendar. Our members will have the choice of connecting at education programs, networking events, the Holiday Soiree, the Annual Gala and CMP University, plus we are also launching a new food and wine event in the spring. The event will be a celebration of two of the Bay Area’s best resources: talented chefs and extraordinary wines! I’m excited to also announce that the Board of Directors decided to donate 50 percent of the net proceeds from the food and wine event to a deserving local charity. Look out for details in the months to come. In the meantime, I hope you are having as much fun this year as I am, and, as always, I look forward to connecting with you soon.
