chapter speaks WHAT ARE YOU READING or LISTENING to For many of us, summer affords some extra "ME" time to delve into our neglected reading lists and playlists. Think hammock or dock, lounge chair or cute café. Meeting professionals weighed in with plans on how they will be feeding their minds and souls this summer with great reads and listens: "For several summers now, I've been wanting to read 'The Shack,' and hopefully I'll have time this summer to tackle it." Margaret Binns, Ontario Catholic School Trustees' Association "My summer tunes will entail drives to the cottage listening to the new albums by The Lumineers and The Strumbellas." Caitlin Burgess, Canada Health Infoway "I cannot wait to make time to read 'The Girl on the Train' by Paula Hawkins. We all need to take time for some mindless reading and this tops my list!" Shannon Byck, CMP, Meeting Encore "Not a specific song per se, but Spotify is my new favourite app for music. Any and all playlists you can think of, I've used it for relaxing and 'me' time, and at events for background music." Mariella Irivarren, B.A., CMP, Corporate Event Professional "If anyone has interest in Napoleon's time in France, read it from Josephine's perspective, starting with 'The Many Lives & Secret Sorrows of Josephine B' by Sandra Gulland, a Canadian author. So many books, so little time." Sandy Biback, CMP, CMM, Imagination+Meeting Planners Inc. "I just finished the book 'The Nest' by Cynthia D'Aprix Sweeney. Definitely recommend it as a fun summer read!" Arianna McLaughlin, Corporate Event Professional "This summer I have two books lined up, the first is 'Adventures in Business' by John Brooks (highly recommended by business leaders all around the world). The other is 'Shift Work' by Tie Domi, because ... well, it's Tie Domi, and I love stories about the little guy fighting back."
