QUALITY IN CONSTRUCTION AWARDS 2013 2013 Quality in Construction Awards E ach year, the National Asphalt Pavement Association recognizes excellence in asphalt paving with its Quality in Construction (QIC) Awards. The award has three categories - projects using less than 50,000 tons of asphalt, projects using more than 50,000 tons of asphalt, and airport pavement projects. Additional recognition is also given for their incorporation of sustainable and innovative practices . For 2013, 198 projects completed by 81 companies were honored with a Quality in Construction Award. One hundred of the projects were singled out for their use of green construction practices, such as incorporating reclaimed and recycled materials and using warm-mix asphalt. New this year, the 10 top-rated Quality in Construction Award projects under 50,000 tons are recognized with the Larry H. Lemon Award. The four top-rated Quality in Construction Award highway projects over 50,000 tons winners from 2012 vie for the Sheldon G. Hayes Award.
