Cost/Benefit of an Organization Retreat

W

hat value would you put on building a creative,
productive and healthy team? We all know that
in the workforce today leading a team that is
as passionate about your mission as you are is
invaluable. Destination retreats are on the rise and with good
reason. You can customize your own retreat for a nominal
amount, to include hotel stay, dining, meeting space, and
activities. The benefits of these costs are priceless for team
building. We all need an opportunity to step back and assess
how our role and character contributes to the team with which
we spend over a quarter of our waking hours. Alleviated by the
day-to-day responsibilities of your role; a destination retreat
allows you to fully unplug.

Recommendations to consider when
selecting a site:
u	Discussing deep topics, like developing accountability,
needs easing in much like a stretch before a 5K jog,
followed by a cooling down period. Select a property with
serene areas for individual and small group reflection, to
bolster introspection and sound-boarding. Be in contact
with the sales manager about creative alternatives to
board rooms, or creative chair configurations outside of the
standard classroom and U-shaped set-ups.

balancing these two is the ultimate goal for success. The
idea of work-life balance is cemented in a retreat where you
can bring your family. A resort offers the perfect opportunity
for this. Seek a resort with both meeting space and children's
and family activities. A setting in which family values
intertwine with work values capitalizes on personal and
interpersonal strengths. In addition to deepening trust and
reliability amongst co-workers or leadership, your children
see the benefit of healthy work relationships. You never
know, your colleagues may write their college reference
letters and serve as life-long mentors.
