MEMBER AND CHAPTER NEWS CHARLES E. BRANT JOINS KWAME BUILDING GROUP, INC. AS SENIOR PROJECT MANAGER Charles E. Brant has joined Kwame Building Group, Inc., an AGC of Missouri member, as a senior project manager responsible for design management of projects within the $1.6 billion Dallas Independent School District 2015 Bond Program. Brant has a Bachelor of Architecture from Oklahoma State University. He has 13 years of experience as an architect and project manager for education, municipal and housing projects. Brant is LEED AP BD&C and NCARB certified, and has been named an American Institute of Architecture (AIA) Dallas Chapter "Young Architect of the Year." EMPIRE CRANE COMPANY'S CHLOE LONERGAN RECEIVES MULTIPLE SCHOLARSHIPS Empire Crane Company, an AGC of New York State LLC member, is proud to announce that Chloe Lonergan received a scholarship from the Syracuse B u i lder s E x c h a ng e Foundation, is a recipient of the Frank Bardonaro Sr. Memorial Scholarship awarded by the SC&RA Foundation and received the SUNY Oswego Presidential Scholarship. Chloe Lonergan has been a summer intern at Empire Crane since 2014 working in the accounts payable department. She is a sophomore at Oswego State in the School of Business. Chloe is majoring in Operations Management with a minor in International Business. She has excelled in her studies ending her freshman year with an overall GPA of 3.95. She recently accepted a teaching assistant position and will be working alongside her business communications professor helping incoming freshman this fall. In addition to academics Chloe is a member of the NCAA Division III Woman's Soccer team at SUNY Oswego. Last year she started in all 18 games as center defender. Her team won the first ever SUNYAC playoff game in school history. She was @Constr uctor Ma g named SUNY Woman's Rookie of the Year for all division III SUNY Schools and named third team all-conference. In addition, Chloe was named to the Scholar Athlete List and also received the SUNY Chancellor Scholar Athlete Award for Division III Woman's Soccer. Chloe Lonergan plans on graduating from SUNY Oswego in the spring of 2019 and continuing her education to obtain her MBA. When asked what her future plans are Chloe said "I hope to have the opportunity to go into the crane industry with my father. I have always been interested in the business and hope to follow in my father, uncle and grandfather's footsteps." C.W. DRIVER COMPANIES COMPLETES CONSTRUCTION ON SAN DIEGO COUNTY'S FIRST ZERO NET ENERGY BUILDING C.W. Driver Companies, a leader in general contracting and construction management in California since 1919, has completed construction on the Alpine Library, County of San Diego's first Zero Net Energy (ZNE) building. Located in Alpine, California, the approximately 12,700-sq-ft, design-build library is more than four times the size of the previous facility. The new library will provide access to a large collection of educational resources, in addition to hosting a variety of community events and learning services. The space will also act as a safety zone for residents of the rural community during emergencies. "Alpine Library marks the third facility in which C.W. Driver, Ferguson Pape Baldwin Architects and Manuel Oncina Architects have partnered with us to provide innovative and award-winning libraries to our residents," said José A. Aponte, director of the San Diego County Library. "This design-build team has been instrumental in helping us bridge our vision for an accessible, flexible, sustainable and singular library, which provides services that empower and educate the community." C.W. Driver's scope of work for the $10 million project included the demolition of an existing park restroom and construction of the new freestanding, single-story steel structure, including all required infrastructure, off-site improvements and creation of a new parking lot with 37 spaces. "We're excited to deliver this highly efficient energy space for the community to enjoy and use as a resource," said Rich Freeark, senior vice president of C.W. Driver Companies' San Diego operations. "Constructing sustainable buildings is a core competency of our firm, which looks to better protect our natural environment, while driving innovation and smart development."
