Teamwork Makes The Dream Work

once said: "Great
things in business are never done by one person. They're done by a team of people." The
team who put together this year's METALfab
convention worked hard to make it successful. The team from the NOMMA Education
Foundation and the Education Committee
who successfully put together the education
classes for METALfab did an outstanding job.
The team from The Heirloom Companies who
hosted a full day of presentations and seminars
were generous with their time and shared valuable information with attendees. The NOMMA
members who recently won awards for their
contributions to the industry, outstanding volunteerism, outstanding contributions to education, and outstanding membership development
all gave their time and energy for a good cause.
AS THE LATE STEVE JOBS
These individuals know that by doing their
part, they are indirectly helping their NOMMA
family as well helping the industry as a whole.
NOMMA's 2016-2017 membership drive has
begun, and NOMMA members are encouraged
to not only sponsor a member but to also get
the word out about the value in their membership. Mark O'Malley, a longtime NOMMA
member, shared the reasons why he considers
his membership to NOMMA as "priceless" on
NOMMA's ListServ. "How much value you get
is up to you. Get involved, ask and answer
questions, attend chapter meetings, use the
ListServ, attend METALfab, and I will promise you that you will not be disappointed," he
writes. If you haven't already read his testimony on NOMMA's blog, you can read it on
pages 13, 15, and 17 of this issue.
Great things in business are never done
by one person. They're done by a team of
people. - Steve Jobs
In addition to a webinar hosted in late April
by association guru Ed Rigsbee on how to
recruit members and relay membership value,
NOMMA also launched its new online Career
Center. This new feature will help the industry
find and hire talented workers. You can read
more about this new resource on page 12.
From invaluable education sessions, ongoing
membership drives, launching a new online
Career Center, the ongoing contributions from
its members and so much more, NOMMA is a
big team player in helping this industry thrive.
While attending METALfab this past March,
I was able to see firsthand the camaraderie,
intelligence, work ethic, creativity, and talent
from the NOMMA members who attended the
trade show. Aside from the incredible projects
entered into the Top Job Award contest, I was
blown away with the warmth and welcome
I felt as a first time attendee. If you aren't
already a NOMMA member and you want to be
part of a team that continually does their part
to help the industry flourish, I encourage you
to consider joining. I don't think you'll regret it.
Until next time,
