❱❱ PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE

PESTWORLD
FOCUSING ON THE BUSINESS OF PEST MANAGEMENT

Working for You
Every Day
BY CHUCK TINDOL, ALLGOOD PEST SOLUTIONS
2016-2017 NPMA PRESIDENT

T

he individuals working in the pest management industry are the hardest
working people I've ever met. You know how to solve problems. You
know how to meet expectations. You know how to create business
opportunities. You do what it takes to keep your customers safe from disease
and damage. You epitomize NPMA's core purpose - Our Mission is Your
Protection - and I want to thank you not only for your contributions to our
industry, but also for your commitment to NPMA. You are why we exist. And it's
our job to ensure that you, your employees and your business are protected.
Earlier this year, NPMA embarked upon a strategic planning process. While
many of the challenges the industry faced years ago still remain, like changes
in science and chemicals, legislative policies, employee recruitment, or the
latest pest-related public health concern, the rate of information available
has changed the magnitude and intensity of those challenges. NPMA has to
change to be able to respond to these challenges. We have to take a more
proactive approach, and we have to communicate to you, our members, in
ways you want the information.
This past May, we hosted the P3 Summit, in which members of the Board of
Directors of NPMA, PPMA and QualityPro, as well as chairmen of all of NPMA's
committees convened to review our mission and values, refine our vision and
set our strategic direction. You'll be able to read more on the outcomes of
this process on page 10.
Based upon these conversations, the group identified four key focus areas.
The first focus area is consumer connections. Our goal is that a growing
number of consumers are actively seeking protection for their residences and
businesses by using pest management professionals.
The second focus area is membership. NPMA offers a substantial number of
programs and benefits for our members and we want to increase the number
of pest management companies that are using these benefits to improve the
quality of their businesses.
The third focus area is public health leadership. We want to ensure that
NPMA and pest management professionals are the trusted sources for protecting people, structures and land from pest related health threats.
Finally, our fourth focus area is regulators and policy makers. We will strive
to increase our influence in the development of balanced and proactive
legislation and regulations.
Since the summit, NPMA leadership and staff have worked on identifying
key objectives and tactics under each of these goal areas. We intend to share
our strategic plan with you in January 2017.
The fact is, times are changing...but one thing remains true. We will continue to work for you - both out in front and behind the scenes - every day. ●
