Raymond Keith (RK)
Johnson, Passes Away
September 27 - October 1
RAYMOND KEITH (RK) Johnson, 88, of Comanche
passed away on Friday, Feb. 28, 2014, at his
home in Comanche. Services were held at the
Fairlawn Cemetery at Comanche with Pastor
Mario Pineda officiating.
RK was born on Oct. 5, 1925, in Oil
City, Okla., the son of Carl and Alice
(Thomas) Johnson. He graduated from
Comanche High School in 1944, and
served in the United States Air Force
during World War II.
RK married Bobbie Nell Perkins in
Walters, Okla., on March 14, 1945. He
retired from the Sun Oil Company and
was one of the originators/founders
and the first CEO of the National Rural
Water Association, which stemmed from
his long-time involvement with the
Oklahoma Rural Water Association. He
loved to play golf and work on old cars.
Sam Wade, current NRWA CEO said,
"Rural Water has lost a very good friend
in R.K. Johnson. It is because of dedicated
people like him that the National Rural
Water Association was formed and is today,
the nation's largest water and wastewater
utility association in the nation."
He was preceded in death by his
parents, two brothers and one sister.
Survivors include his wife Bobbie; three
sons: Robert Johnson and wife Barbara
of Loco, Okla., John Johnson and wife
Jonnalyn of Santa Fe, N.M., and Dr. Paul
Johnson and wife Robin of Shawnee, Okla.;
a daughter Janie Dowdy and husband Bob
of Midwest City, Okla.; nine grandchildren:
Dr. Jerrod Johnson, Jereme Johnson, Dr.
Audra Cook, Zac Johnson, Maya McGraw,
Dr. Asia Gifford, Amelia Minor, Andrew
Johnson and Payton Johnson and nine
