David Yang is responsible for establishing
and executing internal controls
involving UC Coach Lines' accounting
and financial procedures, while
coordinating all financial planning.
While a solid bottom line is the
common denominator of every
successful motor coach industry
member, financial success does not
arrive without top-notch internal
training and safety initiatives. In fact,
proper training and current safety
measures are key elements of UC Coach
Lines and UC Coach Service's corporate
identity, according to Ho.
"Our safety program begins with
driver screening," Ho explained. "Our
criteria and hiring procedures help us
select experienced individuals with
good driving records. From there, they
receive training for daily vehicle trip
inspections, hours of service (e-logs),
school bus driver improvement courses,
air brake training and much more."
"Technology also helps improve our
safety group and safety program," Ho
continued. "For example, our drivers
and supervisors share the same social
media chat groups. This helps better
our drivers' communication within
the company, and in turn helps us
support each other when there are
any questions or concerns. Using
social media helps us facilitate quicker
and allows us to respond in a quicker
manner in order to address any issues,
encourage discussion and pass along
valuable knowledge."
As Ho explained, only top-of-the-line
preventive maintenance programs
are acceptable at UC Coach Service,
which boasts its own 13,500-squarefoot service centre with four mechanic
service bays, a wash bay, and a body
shop. It provides repair, maintenance
and cleaning services to all types of
heavy-duty vehicles.
Coach repair and maintenance
services at UC Coach Service include
one-stop maintenance, including oil
and filter changes, emergency road
calls, repairs to brakes, suspension,
electrical, air conditioning, exhaust,
cooling, engine and transmissions, and
even vehicle body repairs. Full-service
cleaning with a state-of-the-art
high-speed, automated washing system

is also available. UC Coach Service
takes great pride in its team of certified
mechanics specialized in all areas for
highway coach maintenance.
In fact, the company is licensed
under the Ontario Ministry of
Transportation as a Motor Vehicle
Inspection Station. It's also a Drive
Clean Heavy-Duty Diesel Vehicle
Emission Test Facility licensed under
the Ministry of Environment and
Climate Change. A one-stop inspection
station for all licensing needs includes
safety standards certification for new
and used vehicles, annual inspection
certificate, safety inspection (valid for
six months) and the Ontario Drive
Clean Emission Test.
Overnight and monthly parking
spaces are available for rent. All
periodic safety vehicle inspections
are done in-house by UC Coach
Service's factory-trained technicians.
Computerized programming ensures
maintenance schedules are always
up to date and that spare parts are
fully stocked in order to confirm their
availability in a timely manner.
Said Ho, "Safety is our priority! Our
passengers will always be provided
with excellent service and a safe
ride - every time."
In addition, UC Coach Service
offers bus wraps, which provide
great opportunities for advertising
campaigns, special events, trade shows
or everyday uses.

business/operating plan, as well as our

changes you've noticed in recent times?

We are always looking for new ways
to market our company. Strategic
marketing keeps our company name
in the forefront, visible to potential
customers. In fact, good marketing
contributes to and helps ensure our
company's ongoing success.
No company is an
island - networking with fellow
industry members is a key to ensuring
longevity and excellence. Ask any
OMCA member how the association

You are correct. Networking is
important. OMCA provides endless

work with them to establish ongoing
relationships within our industry. It's

word-of-mouth advertising - do a good
job, and past clients will recommend you
to others. Does this also hold true for
UC Coach Lines and UC Coach Service?
Yes, word of mouth advertising works
for us. And our Internet presence - our
websites - list all of our services. That's
important today. So, we get referrals,
and in turn potential clients can read
