85th Midyear Meeting

IPAA kicked off its 85th Midyear Meeting in Santa Fe, New Mexico with the Environment and Land Access Conference, which
addressed some of the most pressing issues facing independent producers. Speakers discussed the industry's response to the BLM
hydraulic fracturing final rule, upcoming regulatory actions by the Obama Administration, current challenges that producers are facing,
and updates regarding chemical disclosures and the latest developments with FracFocus.
In the afternoon, the Cooperating Associations and Liaison Committees held their biannual meetings, while IPAA members and their
spouses were able to visit with fellow attendees at a welcome networking reception.
The keynote speaker for the Midyear Meeting was U.S. Army general Stanley McChrystal (Ret.) who spoke about the challenges
he and his team experienced when he took the helm of Joint Special Operations Command (JSOC) in 2003. IPAA Chairman of the Board
Mike Watford called the Board of directors meeting to order and the Board elected Stephen Jones, vice Chairman of Enervest, as the
association's incoming vice Chairman.
IPAA President and CEO Barry Russell welcomed IPAA members to the general session on Friday, June 26 where they received
an update on IPAA's divestment campaign and educational efforts through the IPAA Energy Education Foundation. Following the
association update, Chairman of the Petroleum Academy Advisory Board galen Cobb recognized Jeff Stear, teacher at Milby High
School in Houston, Texas as the IPAA Energy Education Foundation Teacher of the Year. Next, attendees heard from thought leader and
IHS Energy Senior director Jamie Webster, who provided an economic and geopolitical outlook on crude oil exports.
IPAA's vice President of Economics and International Affairs Fred Lawrence moderated a "Conversations with Industry Leaders"
panel featuring Fred Callon, Chairman and CEO of Callon Petroleum, Michael Miller, President and CEO of Miller Energy Company, and
george Yates, Chairman, President and CEO of HEYCO Energy group, Inc. The panelists participated in an informative discussion and
offered their insights on pressing issues regarding operational, political, financial and environmental concerns facing the industry.
Mark Miller, IPAA vice Chairman, convened the membership luncheon, where prize raffle drawings were held for Midyear Meeting
attendees. IPAA committees held roundtable discussions on current issues facing our industry, including the political and regulatory
issues facing independent producers today, key market dynamics impacting production as the United States expands its global energy
role, and evaluating new capital market opportunities. ●
Former Chairman Virginia "Gigi" Lazenby serves as Chairman of
the Nominating Committee which recommends elected positions.

Public Affairs, unveils IPAA's new campaign against fossil fuel

by activists to divest colleges from coal, oil and gas stocks.
