Lucart, Lucca, Italy, welcomed 2018 with a major investment aimed
at strengthening its market position in the Iberian Peninsula through
the acquisition of the assets of the Spanish Group CEL Technologies &
System. Lucart's project for restarting the business includes an investment plan of more than EUR20 million over the next five years. In
terms of logistics, the geographical location of the plants is ideal for
Lucart for serving both the Iberian and French markets. To gradually
resume production, Lucart has confirmed 146 jobs in the three plants
acquired, with a business plan that envisages the following: restarting
two continuous machines at the Aranguren plant, for an overall capacity of 50,000 metric tpy; and gradually restarting and implementing
the converting activity in the Gunes plant.
Vinda International Group, China, purchased four new Toscotec
AHEAD-2.0M tissue machines to be installed in its new production
base in Xiaonan district, Xiaogan, Hubei. Toscotec will deliver the
first two lines in mid-March and the second two in mid-May 2018.
PMs 1-4 will have similar configurations, including second generation large diameter TT SYD and Toscotec's most recent technological
developments in dryness efficiency, taking its widely acknowledged
energy saving results to the next level.
Essity has been recognized as one of the world's 100 most sustainable companies by Corporate Knights. The recognition was presented
in connection with World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland.
The ranking is based on publicly disclosed data from 2016 based on
up to 17 key performance indicators covering environmental, social
and governance relative to company peers. A total of 5,994 publicly
listed companies with gross revenue of minimum US$1 billion have
been analyzed, encompassing all sectors and industries. The global
100 companies come from 22 countries, where Essity is one of five
Swedish companies on the list.
Svenska Pappersbruket in Klippan, Sweden, will invest in a
new tissue machine with a capacity of 30,000 metric tpy. Startup is
planned for Q2 2019. The supplier will be Recard of Italy. The mill is
a big producer of colored tissue base paper reels and supplies to customers worldwide. The investment will further strengthen the mill's
position as the production will quadruple. Tissue from Klippan Mill
is used mainly for napkin production.
A growing, strengthened relationship between Recard and Azur
Papier, a subsidiary of Lilas SAH (Société d'Articles Hygiéniques)
headquartered in Tunis, has led to Azur choosing Lucca-based Recard
to enhance its production capacity. The supply entails a turnkey plant,
with two virgin fiber stock preparation lines, a feeding unit, two
rewinders and ancillary equipment, and is earmarked for the Zriba
facility, 60 km south of Tunis, with startup scheduled by the end of
2018. PM 2 will have a production capacity of 115 metric tpd, a working
speed of 1,800 m/min, and a net sheet width of 2,750 mm. The new
plant can run using the two stock prep lines and the Kadant deinking
