Cadillac Fairview's Vice President of Consumer
Marketing, Craig Flannagan, said that the landlord
utilizes both internal marketing staff as well as external public relations firms, noting that the landlord makes sure that its "internal team is strong,
and that the extended team is also strong". Cadillac Fairview has launched some of the splashiest
mall marketing campaigns in Canadian history,
with 2016 being a banner year.
Marketing Campaigns: New Store Openings

Retailers and landlords are increasingly partnering on promoting store openings, including
some recent memorable launches. Saks Fifth Avenue worked with Cadillac Fairview on the launch
of Saks' first Canadian stores, which included
various marketing and social media campaigns,
and even billboards that were placed throughout Toronto. Flannagan noted that the landlord
also worked closely with Nordstrom in promoting the opening of the retailer's first four Canadian stores, which were all in Cadillac Fairview
properties. Extensive social media marketing
campaigns helped create awareness by determining the right target audience to engage with

and build buzz before the openings,
and the landlord even made suggestions as to what charities Nordstrom
might want to consider for its store
opening charity galas.
When La Maison Simons and Holt
Renfrew launched their flagships at
Mississauga's Square One in 2016,
Oxford Properties worked with both
retailers on awareness campaigns to
draw customers. Social media, marketing campaigns, signage and other
promotions were used, in conjunction with high-profile opening events
that saw excited customers lining up
to get in. "We are there to support the
retailers in any way that we can," said
Turner, noting that the landlord utilizes a variety of channels to support
both new and existing retailers.
