What's Best in Canadian Retail

RETAIL Council of Canada's STORE Conference 2015
hosted one of the retail industry's most anticipated events
of the year-the Excellence in Retailing Awards, the
industry showcase for the most innovative approaches
to retail in the last year.
The awards night featured 11 categories of awards
that were presented to recipients concerning all aspects
of the retail business, from front-of-store retailing and
merchandising to marketing and human resources development. Throughout the event, attendees were pre-

sented with stories of innovation, inspiration, passion
and creativity by their fellow retailers. Each winning
retailer had different priorities and goals that they were
seeking to achieve. Each had differing approaches in
getting there. But, what the award-winning retailers
highlighted in this special feature all have in common
is precision. Their operations demonstrated precision
in planning and executing best-in-class plans to grow
brands, engage customers, drives sales, and enhance
Canadian retailing.

TWO BRANDS, ONE WEBSTORE
Groupe Dynamite launches website with
single checkout for two stores

Groupe Dynamite faced an enviable challenge: to give
hungry customers more from the retailer's online experience. The retailer found a way to deliver more to
their customers, but that involved a massive overhaul
of the retailer's two branded websites.
The solution to unify the retailer's two brands, Garage and Dynamite, under a single online checkout, was
a huge and daunting task. One element that made the
task daunting was the personalities at play. Garage and
Dynamite have very different branding and serve different customers. In addition, the existing Garage site
was transactional and the Dynamite one was not.
The end result met expectations and delivered to the
retailer and customers a brand new online experience.
The retailer redesigned and integrated an Oracle ATG Creating a seamless experience, in-store and online.
ecommerce platform. The site provides a single, simplified checkout for the two brands, along with a unified back-end and an
improved experience across desktop, tablet, and mobile screens.
Customers love the new site says Georgia Genovezos, senior director of ecommerce at Groupe Dynamite. It has inspired customers to

spend more time on the site, reduced bounce rates, and increased incremental revenue.
