H&M Canada
In 2015, H&M began to focus on a talent development strategy for its
store management teams as well as the corporate leaders. H&M developed a two-day program called "Your Leadership" that provides
leadership training to elevate the leadership skills of H&M management, with the goal of becoming a motivational and inspirational
leader to their teams. The training focused on communication,
teamwork, inspiration, feedback, motivation and goal-setting. The
training was reflected in better sales, improved customer service,
improved employee engagement, stronger leadership, and H&M's
inclusion on the 2015 list of 50 Best Workplaces in Canada.
The Michael Hill Retail Academy
With more than 300 stores throughout Canada, USA, Australia,
and New Zealand, the jewellery store Michael Hill has an impressive vision: to operate 1000 stores by 2022. To reach this goal, the
store instituted the Michael Hill Retail Academy.
One of the most significant results of the Retail Academy has been
the creation of a centralized training facility, which houses a mock
store that does everything a live store does. It can bring groups in, run
sessions tailored to store positions, and video conference globally.
"Our employees love this space," says Michael Hill's President,
Brett Halliday. "It's a place to call their own that has the history of
Michael Hill, and the branding."
