Sobeys brings nutrition to Special Olympics
WHEN Sobeys' Better Food Fund began the search for their

next national charitable partner, the team looked for a partner
who shared Sobeys' passion for better food, but also-and just
as important-a cause that would address a need, inspire their
people, and reflect the communities Sobeys serves.
They found that partner in Special Olympics Canada. The
partnership, focused on nutritional education, is the first of
its kind in the global Special Olympics movement and provides needed nutritional knowledge to people with intellectual disabilities and their loved ones.
To help create healthier eating habits and reduce the risk
of chronic disease and social isolation, the Sobeys Better
Food Fund and Special Olympics Canada developed a series of hands-on, fun and informative initiatives focused on
nutrition education. Together, they are making better food
possible on and off the field for 40,000 athletes and 19,000
Sobeys helping to create healthier eating habits.

Hudson's Bay Company accelerates
order fulfillment with robots

RETAIL is changing and customers want a personalized experience that blends the best of online and in-store retailing.
To deliver on this challenge, HBC focused on developing an
all-channel retail strategy to allow customers to shop wherever, whenever and however they want.
HBC invested in state-of-the-art robotic technology at the
Scarborough Distribution Centre (DC). The new system-the
first of its kind in Canada and the largest in the world-increases the speed and accuracy of online order fulfillment and worker efficiency without eliminating any full-time hourly positions.
A new vertical storage system means that the Scarborough DC
can hold five times more product than it did before.
Erik Caldwell, Senior Vice-President, Supply Chain &
Digital Operations at Hudson's Bay Company, says HBC's
Scarborough DC technology is 12 to 15 times faster than the
traditional manual fulfillment process, and three times faster
than the next-best robotic fulfilment technology.
