members select the PUDOpoint they'd like
to have their purchases shipped to during
the checkout process. When their shipments arrive at their preferred PUDOpoint,
members are notified via email or text message. Parcels are stored in a safe and secure
space, and identification procedures are followed to ensure that the intended consignee receives their parcel.
Utilizing simple technology which allows
vendors to easily manage the inbound and
outbound flow of shipments into their locations, PUDO also accommodates parcels
from their authorized courier partners' failed
first-delivery attempts and offers customer return services for shoppers on various e-retailer websites. Convenience stores that provide
this service are compensated for every parcel
that comes through their doors. And the increased foot-traffic produced by the service
results in increased incidental sales.

often leads to the consumer being forced to venture
out to remote and inaccessible locations to retrieve
their shipments. PUDO provides a remedy to this
logistical inconvenience by providing customers with
holding locations for their parcels in the neighbourhoods they work and play which can be picked up at
their convenience.
Another problem facing the industry is 'porch pirates'-an increasingly ubiquitous term used to describe thieves who steal packages from the porches
and doorsteps of unsuspecting customers. A welcome
increase in parcel volumes has led to an unwelcome
rise in parcel thefts. And though there are no hard statistics documenting parcel theft in Canada, last year
an estimated 23-million Americans were the victims of
these crimes. Many couriers don't require signatures
for a large percentage of their volumes, thus resulting
in parcels being left on customers' doorsteps, vulnerable to theft. This epidemic is aided by the fact that the
process is quick, painless, and relatively anonymous;
swiping an unattended parcel from a porch or doorstep is significantly easier than a traditional breakand-enter, and the chances of a robber being identified
and caught after a doorstep theft has occurred are slim
to none. As a result, e-commerce companies, couriers
and customers alike are trying to find solutions to this
increasingly prominent problem.
Fortunately, PUDO provides a remedy for this by
providing customers with a secure, clean and professionally staffed holding location for their parcels that
can be picked up at their convenience.
With an ever-growing presence in all ten Canadian
provinces-and with plans for U.S. expansion in the
pipeline-PUDO is nurturing a mutually beneficial relationship between their members and local convenience
store retailers. Providing safe and friendly pick-up points
that neighborhood residents can call their own is integral to this relationship, as retailers look to develop trust
and loyalty within their customer base while at the same
time increasing their foot-traffic and profit margins.

Combating e-commerce challenges

PUDO is also providing solutions to
many of the challenges that have plagued
the courier and e-commerce industries for
years. Amongst these pain-points are inconvenient delivery hours. The majority of
consumers typically aren't at home during
a courier's standard delivery hours, which
