Highlights from
the SGMP
Membership Survey
SGMP conducted a membership satisfaction survey
January 16-March 1, 2017. The survey garnered 468 responses;
87 percent of those responding were female, and 53 percent indicated
they were age 51 or older. More than half indicated they have
11 or more years of experience in government meetings, 20 percent
had 6-10 years of experience and 27 percent had 5 or less years of
experience. All of the chapters were represented in the survey.

Most Valuable Benefits

Keeping You Updated

Chapter education, meetings, and events
were the highest rated benefits, with
81 percent rating them as Excellent or
Good. In second was the SGMP
Link enewsletter at 59 percent
rating it highly, followed
by Government
Connections magazine
at 54 percent.

When asked about the SGMP publications they read,
73 percent of respondents said they read all or more than
half of periodic emails sent out by SGMP, followed by the
SGMP eLink (53 percent) and Government Connections
magazine (47 percent). By weighted average, the
most used online tools include my chapter's website,
SGMP website and chapter social media.

leaders and volunteers as
Good or Excellent overall with
communications (81 percent),
followed by the Government Connections
magazine (73 percent), SGMP website
(72 percent), NEC (67 percent), SGMP

Event Attendance
Approximately one-third of respondents attended NEC in the
previous year, whereas 85 percent had attended a chapter event.

respondents reported
having their CGMP,
while 33 percent are
interested in receiving it
and 28 percent are not
interested in exploring
it further.

Membership Value
When asked what value they receive
for their membership, 76 percent of
respondents indicated it was Excellent
or Good. When asked if they would
ask a friend to join, 92 percent said
they would. When asked to give SGMP
an overall grade, 75 percent rated
SGMP with an A (Excellent) or B (Good) rating, compared to
78 percent who said the same for their chapter.
