Our Opportunities are
every year, our chapters review their key priorities and set goals toward reaching them.
While the expenses for the national organization are on a completely different scale, your
national leadership team conducts that same exercise each year and throughout the year.
SgMP has outlined four key parts to our strategic direction and one of those keys is
financial sustainability. a key goal under our financial strategy this year was to achieve
a balanced budget, with a critical tactic in that area to prioritize a solution to our
overwhelming hQ lease agreement. While a very challenging task - as rob coffman notes
on the previous page - the Member Bill of rights that guides the deliberations of your
national board pointed in one direction.
our bill of rights ensures transparency in governance and operations. it states that
members have the right to have Society funds used to advance our mission, that SgMP
leaders have a fiduciary responsibility to manage Society funds and assets for the good
of the entire Society, and that SgMP funds are to be used for meeting member needs of
today, ensuring the sustainability of operations, and preparing for the Society's future.
our headquarters status quo was simply not workable. There were multiple options -
each with notable pros and cons - but no perfect solution. This best option surely requires
a total change in office operations and culture while significantly lowering costs and
clearly providing the most flexibility. your staff is focused on this change, and we are
embracing the opportunities that it brings to SgMP.
Thank you for your membership!
