The Certified Government Meeting
Professional (CGMP) designation is
designed for planners and suppliers
whose work is governed by the
rules and regulations of the federal
government. Individuals who have
earned their CGMP have obtained
the highest designation available
specifically for government meeting
professionals. This course teaches
recognized industry practices cited
in the Convention Industry Council
(CIC) Manual. Included in the course
material are seven sections covering
27 topics with specific and thorough
instruction on ethics, federal budget
and appropriations, acquisition and
contracting, federal travel regulations,
RFPs, risk management protocol,
FedBiz Opps and sustainability. After
three full days of classroom instruction,
the exam is taken on the fourth day.
How to Recertify Your CGMP
After earning your CGMP designation, you must recertify every
three years by completing the CGMP recertification application and
paying a $100 recertification processing fee. It is the responsibility
of each CGMP recipient to track, document and submit their
recertification requirements. SGMP will attempt to contact you
prior to your CGMP renewal date with a reminder and instructions.
Please allow 30 days for processing.
SGMP considers any member portraying professional
credentials without up-to-date certification to be a serious ethical
violation. Please refer to policy M-8 of our policy manual to view
punitive actions that may be taken if you are in violation of SGMP's
code of ethics that protect the professionalism of our organization.
