SPRAYFOAM Professional - Summer 2014 - (Page 8)
HARVESTING OPPORTUNITIES... IN SPRING?
ell, it is looking as though "spring
has sprung" throughout the country; and not a moment too soon! Spring
is typically the "starting line" for a lot
of the contractors and customers in our
industry. However, as we all know, simply walking to the starting line at the
start of the race with no preparation does
not usually work out well for anyone.
There is training, planning, practice,
fine tuning, etc...that has to take place
to give ourselves and our customers the
best possible environment for success.
In our working world of sprayfoam, that
preparation is vital to our success.
The availability of proper training has never been better or easier at
any time in our industry. The SPFA's
Professional Certification Program or
"PCP" is an ISO 17024 compliant professional certification program that
provides information and testing to
achieve any of four levels from the contractor side: Assistant, Installer, Master
Installer and Project Manager. All four
of these levels are centered on health
and safety and the proper installation
of spray polyurethane foam. They provide for the sprayfoam contractor and
their customers an illustration of the
commitment and expertise your company possesses. When coming out of
the blocks, having certified sprayfoam
professionals as part of your team puts
you ahead from the start!
As projects begin to materialize, the
next challenge we face is the toughest
to control - scheduling! As the saying
goes, "The best laid plans..." are not
sometimes, but many times, changed/
altered/interrupted. This is when our
professionalism and prior planning are
utilized. If we as contractors are prepared and our teams are trained, we can
more easily adjust our work load and
still achieve billable work. Is the new
house on the "project board" ready? No?
Then let's head outside. It's raining?
Then let's call that retrofit customer to
see if they can accommodate us today.
If your company works hard to establish
good relationships and communicates
openly and often, you should have the
ability to make some phone calls and
keep your guys working, your rigs rolling and spraying foam.
There is no doubt that the use and recognition of spray polyurethane foam as an
outstanding product continues to grow.
When we picture applying sprayfoam in
the summer months, we don't often think
of "fine tuning" our work environment.
However, with our increased recognition,
acceptance, knowledge, experience and
market share, our industry partners have
come up with advances in the tools and
equipment we can utilize in our daily
environment to apply the fine tuning that
just might be the difference between
profit and loss.
When coming out of the blocks, having
certified sprayfoam professionals as
part of your team
puts you ahead
from the start!"

We have made some great strides as
an industry over the last few years. As
we achieve more, we also see a positive momentum and response from all
facets of our industry to keep the ball
rolling and become even more capable and professional than ever before.
Nowhere was this more evident than
at our SprayFoam 2014 Conference in
Palm Springs, Calif. this past January. All
facets of our industry, associations from
related industries, federal partners, and
several other interested groups attended
our conference, many for the first time.
The positive momentum and genuine
optimism was palpable. Let's capture
that momentum, bring along our training, planning and fine tuning, and hit
the start of our busy season... running
toward a safe and successful 2014! o
Be safe. Be your best.
