Disbook AfricA 2012 - Country report AlgeRiA TELEVISION MARKETPLACE The advertising market is rising thanks to economy’s constant development and a strong competition, especially in the telecommunication market. The state remains the main player in audiovisual sector; the public company Radio-Television Algerienne owns and operates EPTV channel and the many local radio stations. Satellite television is widespread in Algeria and it is estimated that more than 60% of households across the country have access to European and other Arab channels via satellite. The country is investing heavily in the expansion of its fiber optic infrastructure; Internet has become quickly one of the most popular media platform and ADSL prices are among the most affordable in the region. Fixed-line incumbent Algeria Telecom (AT) has launched the first IPTV service in 2010. Digital migration process and digital broadcasting should be fully implementevd by 2015. MARCHÉ DE LA TÉLÉVISION Le marché de la publicité est en plein essor grâce à un développement économique continu et une très forte concurrence, en particulier dans le secteur des télécommunications. L’état Algérien reste le principal acteur sur la scène audiovisuelle; la Radio Télévision Algérienne publique possède et exploite la chaîne EPTV et un grand nombre de stations de radio locales. La télévision par satellite est très répandue en Algérie et on estime que plus de 60% des foyers algériens ont accès aux chaînes européennes et aux autres chaînes arabes via le satellite. Le pays investit massivement dans l’extension de son infrastructure en fibre optique ; l’Internet est très vite devenu l’une des plus populaires plateformes média et les prix d’accès à l’ADSL sont parmi les plus abordables de la région. Algeria Telecom (AT) qui est l’opérateur historique de téléphonie fixe, a lancé en 2010 son premier service de IPTV. Le passage au numérique devrait être complètement terminé d’ici 2015.
