These are the first containers to be made with RP10 panels using advanced composite material technology from DSM. The panels are designed to provide maximum strength at a minimum weight. This advanced material breakthrough was made possible by using Dyneema® and Aeronite® resin from DSM. M ost airline companies have recently committed to halving CO2 emissions by 2050 and are exploring all possible weight-saving options that do not compromise safety or performance. and general wear and tear, which helps lower maintenance and repair costs by as much as 50% per year. The lightweight RP10 panels have excellent adhesion properties, allowing IATA code stickers to be applied more easily and securely. This avoids damage or loss of labelling. The DoKaSch lw-65 ULD can also be manufactured in any airline colour, which allows for easy identification. in service with several carriers around the world. Based on the success of the AKE lw65 in-flight trials, DoKaSch has expanded its lightweight ULD product offering to include AKH and all types of main deck containers, which are certified and commercially available. As RP10 panels are up to four times stronger than aluminium sheets, the ULD is extremely tough, strong and durable. In addition, it shows excellent resistance to heavy impacts and general wear and tear, which helps lower maintenance and repair costs by as much as 50% per year. In addition, the panels display exceptional colour and mechanical stability over their service life and are also FAR 25.853 certified. More information Headquartered in Staudt, Germany, DoKaSch GmbH has been manufacturing standard and customized advanced engineering cargo products for the airline industry since 1989. The company is one of the leading international suppliers of ULDs, such as air cargo pallets, air cargo containers and active-controlled refrigerated containers (active ULDs). It also provides extensive repair and maintenance services to its client base, including a one-hour response capability. DoKaSch has facilities close to the Frankfurt Rhein-Main airport (FRA), at Hahn airport (HHN), in Limburg, some 50 km north of Frankfurt, as well as in Miami, Florida. All of its facilities are certified by the relevant aeronautical authorities. CO2 savings The new AKE from DoKaSch is more than 15.5 kg lighter than a standard aluminium container, i.e. a 20% weight reduction. A typical mid-size cargo fleet will load around 5,000 unit load devices (ULD) over the course of a year. This new container could save up to 330,000 litres of fuel, yielding a 28,000 metric ton reduction in CO2 emissions and potential cash savings of € 2 million (US$ 3 million) for airlines.
