Visit: www.eibtm.com/seminars Exhibition News Where the travel business is happening Bulgaria increases its space at UITT 2009 by 50% next month Special Issue EIBTM Barcelona ILTM Cannes Around 100,000 Ukrainians visit Bulgaria every year as tourists. The figure was revealed during the meeting of Ukraine’s Ambassador to Sofia with the Mayor of Varna. His Excellency Viktor Kalnik announced plans by the Bulgarian State Agency for Tourism and Bulgarian tourism companies to represent their country as a tourist destination at UITT 2009. The Bulgarian State Agency for Tourism willincrease its space by 50% compared to 2008 and become the 3rd largest exhibitor at the exhibition. Chairperson of the Bulgarian State Agency for Tourism, Anelya Krushkova, says, “The number of Ukrainian tourists in Bulgaria is constantly growing. This trend is particularly noticeable this year. Ukraine is a very important 22 TRAVEL NEWS EUROPE market to the Bulgarian travel industry. The number of travel agencies participating in UITT is increasing, too. 27 companies were represented at UITT 2008. We are expecting more next year”. Special themed areas include ‘Active Holidays’, ‘Spa & Wellness’, ‘Golf Destinations’, ‘Living Abroad’, which gives visitors information on purchasing a home overseas, ‘Caravan World’, home to retailers of recreational vehicles, and ‘Caravan Stage’, which presents informative sessions for caravan owners. ‘Culture & Event Street’ brings together domestic events, attractions and cultural destinations with performances and family fun. The ‘Tasty Travel’ area November 2008 Themed areas at MATKA 2009 showcases domestic food and tastes from abroad. The ‘Travel Services & Accessories’ area includes insurance, health services, plus travel accessories. The ‘Recruitment Session’ allows exhibitors to introduce themselves to travel & tourism professionals and students. Recruitment adverts can be posted and displayed on notice boards for MATKA’s duration. The ‘Book Corner ’ features travel literature, while the stage hosts information sessions and interviews with authors. The ‘Business Travel Forum’ is a meeting place and seminar session for business travel service providers, buyers and company decision makers.
