BATH AND SPA SECTION BY WANDA JANKOWSKI Coming of Age Time Sharpens George Yabu and Glenn Pushelberg’s Edge E ven though George Yabu and Glenn Pushelberg are on the verge of celebrating the 30th anniversary of their interior design George Yabu and Glenn Pushelberg firm, Yabu Pushelberg, the team’s impact on hospitality, restaurant and retail design remains as fresh and powerful as ever. With offices in New York and Toronto, Yabu Pushelberg today consists of a cohesive team of more than 100 professionals dedicated to embracing innovation and excelling at the design and coordination of projects located across the globe. Though the principals serve in different capacities, with Yabu overseeing design and Pushelberg networking between clients and design teams, the two have come together for BD to jointly answer key questions on bath design and where it’s headed. Las Alcobas, which means “the alcoves,” is scheduled for completion in September with custom-designed interiors by Yabu Pushelberg. Located in Mexico City, the luxury hotel will include 36 rooms, the NEMI gourmet restaurant and the Aurora Spa. 62 • boutique DESIGN may/june 2009
